Hood Warfare 2 tips for beginners
Before your first match
- Update to the latest patch (1.0.10 or newer); it fixed loadouts not saving and added voice chat.
- Set voice chat: push to talk is on T by default; switch to open mic in the settings if you prefer.
- Plug in a controller if you like; Steam lists full controller support.
- On the join match screen, pick a match with low ping. Matches are hosted by players, so ping varies a lot.
1. Learn a map against bots
Bot matches let you choose the map, mode and match settings and fill the teams with bots. Walk the routes, find the high windows and side alleys, and learn where each team spawns before you play online. Start with one map, not all of them (maps).
2. Use a simple first loadout
Chopper or AKM, mini red dot, vertical grip, a Glock and the Ammo perk. Running out of ammo is the most common early problem, which is why the Ammo perk is the usual pick. Full list in loadouts and weapons.
3. Peek in third person, push in first person
Hood Warfare 2 has a third-person view. Players use it to look around corners without exposing themselves, then switch to first person for precise fights. There is almost no aim assist, no real slide-cancel and little or no prone, so positioning matters more than movement tricks.
4. Call Snitch before you push
Snitch shows every enemy on your team's minimap, so use it right before your team moves on an objective, not after a fight is lost. Homies are three AI teammates that soak up attention; the Drive By (reported at 9 kills) is best on a busy objective. See killstreaks.
5. Play GangBang first
GangBang (team deathmatch) teaches guns and maps without objectives. Then try Turf War and Chain Snatch, where staying with your team matters more than kills, and save Destroy The Block (one life per round) for when you play with friends on voice chat. All six are explained in game modes.
6. Stay near your team
Fights are fast and time to kill is short, especially on small maps like the supermarket. Moving with a teammate means you trade kills instead of dying alone.
7. Move after every fight
After a kill, change position. Snitch reveals you, and enemies come back to the last place they saw shots. Spawns were adjusted and spawn protection added in 1.0.10, so camping a spawn works less than it did at launch.
8. Grab chains and bags
In Chain Snatch a kill only scores when someone picks up the chain, and you can deny the enemy by collecting your teammates' chains. In Hit A Lick, protect the player carrying the bag rather than chasing kills.
9. Level fast, then tune
Reputation levels come quickly; about an hour of play unlocks most weapons and attachments, according to a Tpose Gaming guide. Use one gun until its challenges unlock attachments, then tune it for your favorite map.
10. Report cheaters and move on
Use Report in the pause menu and join another match. Anti-cheat was added in patch 1.0.10 (anti-cheat).
